My friends,

This last Sunday of Advent is our final day of preparation. Even though we have but a few hours before Christmas begins, the liturgy holds back the dam of celebration so we can be with Mary and Joseph during those final hours of waiting and be fully prepared for Christmas. There is a reason why we do not sing Christmas hymns during Advent or use Christmas decorations and flowers before Christmas begins. As we experience the transition from darkness to light and from emptiness to joy, we will appreciate the Christmas mystery even more.

May God in His graciousness send us this peace and joy, and may we know of the true light that the Savior brings. May our time with family and friends this Christmas be blessed and may we be grateful for this greatest gift that God has given to humanity.

In Christ, Fr. Arens

Ave Maria, Dominus tecum
Hail Mary, the Lord is with you
